PERSONALITY: Clark is an alien in every sense of the word - even before he knew he came from another planet, he could sense that he was different from everyone around him. Not allowed to play with other kids, he wasn't really capable of making friends or doing any of the things that kids do to learn to interact with other people. Clark has spent much of his life watching from the sidelines, with the weight of the world on his shoulders because, if the world found out what he is, it would change everything for everyone. Because of this, from a very early age, Clark has felt like he cannot live just for himself, like he does not have the right to. He was never allowed to get angry and lose his temper, or do anything that might betray how he is different- or hurt somebody. Clark grew from a sad, alienated child into a sad, alienated adult who, since he could never really connect with the world he lives in, spent most of his time trying to look for the world he left behind. Never able to reveal himself to anyone, essentially meaning no one was ever able to get to know him, he wasn't able to make any human connections. Moving from place to place using fake names, he's never able to stay in one place for long, not before he has to do something that should be impossible, which is why there's a certain mythos that follows him around. Even before becoming Superman, there's the legend of the man who comes into town, stays for a while, saves someone's life in an impossible way, and then disappears. Clark has been running and hiding his entire life.
The few people he does know, that he has opened up to are basically his entire world, his entire connection to humanity. Other than his mother, his later father and Lois Lane there is no other person in the world who knows who he really is or what he is capable. Because of this, he feels very different from humans - most of what makes a human human is something that Clark simply is not. He's essentially immortal, unaffected by the things that drive humans, the things that make them scared, or worried, or push them to work. Earth is the only planet he really knows, it's his home where he has lived his entire life, but he's never been able to really be part of it and the society that lives on it, and he never really will be. Despite this, he also has no real connection to Krypton - while it might be a major part of his history, he's never been there, he doesn't remember it, and has only heard about it second-hand. Clark had to kill the last of his own kind with his bare hands in order to protect Earth. This means he is a person who doesn't really have a home, a society to which he belongs and that he feels part of. He's not a Kryptonian, and not a human, just some thing in between while what he really wants is to be both.
Instead, he is Superman. He only learned what he was, what he was capable of when he was 33, and he found out so abruptly, so intensely, and in a moment he went from being a regular man with a big secret to Superman, and having to save the world. Now, everyone knows he exists and he carries an incredibly heavy burden of responsibility and obligation to be what everyone expects him to be - Superman. At his core, Clark wants to be accepted, he doesn't want to scare anyone, he just wants to help as many people as he can and make a difference in the world. He loves Earth and he loves humans so much and he wants to do right by them but it's so hard because people think he's a god or a demon and there's no one right or wrong way to do everything. But still, he is not seen as a fallible being, because he's superhuman he is perceived as being above mortal flaws - but he very much is not. Clark is a kind, sensitive, gentle person, and very emotional - but an emotional person is not the person that many people would want effectively holding his finger on the trigger of the most powerful weapon in the world. What makes Clark such a good person and what gives him the potential to be a good hero is also his greatest weakness that could easily be exploited - he cares too much about everyone except himself, and it's going to lead to his own self-destruction. Also, because of his emotional nature, he can be very overprotective, possessive, and if one of his precious people is threatened, he will go postal regardless of his responsibilities or the task at hand. Clark is often so overwhelmed by everything that he lacks foresight, he has to take everything a day at a time and has zero idea what the future holds for him. It is easy for him to become intensely overwhelmed, for everything to become too much, and Clark runs away, isolates himself. The more he takes on in order to save the people he loves and to save the world, the less human he becomes.
Finally, because of his alienation, because he has not had to deal with the same suffering that humans do, he can see the beauty of their suffering and what the greatness they are truly capable of. Clark can love humans more than humans could ever love themselves. Humans are so fragile, but in their fragility, when bad things happen, they come together. In their weakness, they have to use ingenuity in order to not be weak, to adapt to become stronger and faster, to think and plan and learn. Clark has never had to try at anything other than containing himself, and so he admires the human spirit. He loves that humans are challenged and struggle, but always come out on top. This is something he's never had to experience it, and now that he's facing his own challenges, he doesn't really know what to do, how to proceed. But the world needs Superman, and so he has to figure it out.
INVENTORY: The suit.
CHANGES:
As the exposure to yellow-star radiation within Clockbox will be limited, so too will Clark's power. It's easiest to think of Kryptonians as laptops with power-cords and batteries. The yellow-star (sun) is the power-cord and the absorbed radiation is their battery power.
In direct, full-strength sunlight (plugged in) his strength, stamina and vitality are nearly limitless, and he will replenish his energy (charge his battery) so long as he isn't burning through energy (power) as fast as he's taking it in.
Due to the nature of the setting Clark will be forced to rely on his stored energy and with limited access to yellow-star radiation, will find it increasingly difficult to maintain a charge without conscious effort. In the event that Clark burns through all of his available energy (0% battery) he will revert to his normal Kryptonian physiology, which is essentially that of a human being and will need to eat, sleep and breathe exactly like a human would in order to function until he's recharged.
Having lived his whole life with unlimited access to Earth's sun it won't be easy for Clark to adapt. Clark's has very little experience with pain, exhaustion and exertion and he's never had to eat, sleep or really take care of himself in any way. It will take a lot of trial and error for him to learn his new limits.
Clark's x-ray vision and heightened senses will also be limited to his direct environment, as the rooms are essentially closed universes so there's no way to see or hear through one and into another.
